A Sketch-Based Fine-Grained Proportional Integral Queue Management Method

چکیده

The phenomenon “bufferbloat” occurs when the buffers of network intermediary nodes fill up, causing long queuing delays. This has a significant negative impact on quality service applications, particularly those that are sensitive to time delay. Many active queue management (AQM) algorithms have been proposed overcome this problem. Those AQMs attempt maintain minimal delays and good throughput by purposefully dropping packets at nodes. However, existing AQM mostly drop randomly based certain metric such as length or delay, which fails achieve fine-grained differentiation data streams. In paper, we propose sketch-based proportional integral algorithm S-PIE, uses an additional measurement structure Sketch for packet frequency share judgment PIE between streams adjust policy differentiated drop. Experimental results NS-3 simulation platform show S-PIE achieves lower average RTT higher fairness than PIE, RED, CoDel while maintaining similar performance, availability stability, improving service.

Proportional-Integral Active Queue Management with an Anti-Windup Compensator

In this paper, we apply an anti-windup scheme for improving the performance of a conventional ProportionalIntegral (PI) controller for Active Queue Management (AQM) supporting TCP flows. When a PI controller is used for AQM, the “windup” phenomenon of the integral action can cause performance degradation because the packet drop probability is limited between 0 and 1. Therefore we model TCP/AQM ...

A Chaos-Based Communication Scheme Using Proportional and Proportional-Integral Observers

In this paper, we propose a new chaos-based communication scheme using the observers. The novelty lies in the masking procedure that is employed to hide the confidential information using the chaotic oscillator. We use a combination of the addition and inclusion methods to mask the information. The performance of two observers, the proportional observer (P-observer) and the proportional integra...

Optimization of active queue management based on proportional control system

This paper shows the design and performance of an AQM (Active Queue Management) enabled router. The design is based on a classical proportional control system. The application of such a router is to enhance streaming media over IP performance by avoiding bursty packet drop situations, control the router queue delay, and balancing packet drop, delay, and link utilization. The selected AQM equili...

Fine-Grained Image Retrieval: the Text/Sketch Input Dilemma

Fine-grained image retrieval (FGIR) enables a user to search for a photo of an object instance based on a mental picture. Depending on how the object is described by the user, two general approaches exist: sketch-based FGIR or text-based FGIR, each of which has its own pros and cons. However, no attempt has been made to systematically investigate how informative each of these two input modaliti...

Alleviating flow interference in data center networks through fine-grained switch queue management

Modern data centers need to satisfy stringent low-latency for real-time interactive applications (e.g. search, web retail). However, short delay-sensitive flows generated from these applications often have to wait a long time for memory and link resource occupied by a few of long bandwidth-greedy flows because they share the same switch output queue (OQ). To address the above flow interference ...
